A sewing update

Wow, two updates in one day! I just wanted to show you the latest Disney outfits emerging from my sewing room! The first is a trial run of a new pattern. It was difficult because it had very little in the way of directions. I ended up being directed to another blogger who had a tutorial. Thank goodness.
So here it is...very ruffly and twirly....

I am not sure where she'll wear this to when we are at Disney. I would really like to make a Cinderella and Belle inspired dress with this pattern and some applique designs. I really loved making the ruffles and learning how to use my rolled hem foot. So much to still learn......

Here is some pretty quilting fabric I ordered....not sure what I am going to do with it just yet...but isn't it lovely to look at!

Here are the two new patterns I am trying to learn.... the one on the right is the dress above.

Here is my latest creation....I took a fabric book (make it yourself). It was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I bought some cute fabric and cut out the pages of the book. Here I am getting ready to stitch them down the skirt peices.....

Sorry, a little out of order here. I also made an Ariel a-line top for my older daughter to wear to Hollywood Studios. It looks cute with capris or leggins. I shirred the top and appliqued the figures on. Believe it or not, the figures were from a pillow-case!
This is the front....

This is the back...

I gotta get her to model it for you!

Here is the complete MMCH dress. Brooklyn modeled it with Minnie her friend!

Twirling!

Isn't it darling? It's also for our Hollywood Studios day. I still need to make a Belle dress for Devon! And we already have those Toy Story outfits for that day too. Hahahaha, we will match most of the attractions for the day!

Ok so that is it for now. I ordered some really cute designs today and will be getting some more so I can start stitching out all the things that are swimming around in my head. Summer is finally coming and hopefully I can get the rest of the sewing done for Disney in the next two months.

A Few Outings

A Beachy outing...

We had a beautiful weekend and couldn't resist taking the girls down to the bay (...where the watermelons grow, back to my home....) oh sorry...side-tracked for a sec...check out how much fun they had. There were hardly any waves and the water was shallow but they took their boggy boards out and swam and screamed and laughed and played for hours. In fact I have had to take them back a couple of times since....I think this summer will be a beachy summer for us!

We love the beach!!!!

All cleaned up and reading books in bed!

This was most definately a very sandy outing....the girls had nice warm showers and jumped into their jammies when they got home!

Dressing Up and Out!

Not a traditional outing but more of a "dress-up outing", the girls playing fabric store or dentist. Can't remember which. Don't you love it?

Opps, gotta tilt your head counterclockwise for this one! Who wears this shopping?? Tell me??? ;)

And of course, it was pajama day at school! The girls got to roll out of bed and put them on!

Please note that Brooklyn brought her "monster" and Devon brought "cowy". Such original names but they are the girls favorite stuffed animals!

That night they wore tee shirts and shorts to bed. I told them they wore their pj's to school and their clothes to bed!!! They laughed and laughed!!!

A sports fan outing!

Just this past weekend, the Phillies World Series Trophy came to a local town and so we packed up our Phillies gear and headed over to see it! Did you know two guys travel around with it everywhere....24/7....its their job to protect and oversee it. Interesting huh?

So here we all are...

Our friends met up with us there too! Here they are with their cute daughter!

We got a shot of the girls together....someday they will appreciate this!

Afterwards they got their faces painted with a "P" and had hot dogs and soda!

What a fun sporty outing!!!

A Historical Outing....

A few weekends ago, my husband and the girls went to see the dedication of the World War II tower in Cape May Point. They had recently refurbished it and now people can go to the top and look out. Funny story. My husband got tickets ahead of time for the event. When he arrived with the girls, the lady taking the tickets asked if he was here with his family because he was in WWII????? hahahahaha....uh no lady...do I look like I'm 80???? The war was over in 1945!

A new bench in at the base of the tower...

Walking up the step to the top of the tower!

Looking out at the Delaware Bay/Atlantic Ocean....you can see the cement ship!

Another view from the top of the tower...

Seats during the ceremony

Another fun day!!!

The quintessential spring event, at least in this household of girls, is the culminating event of many weeks and hours of hard work: The Dance Recital!!! This year Devon and Brook participated in two dances..."Mickey Mouse March" for their combo class and "I Wanna Be a Puppy Dog" (permanently emblazoned in my brain by the way) for their acrobatic class. Sarah had taken this year off from dance to concentrate on horseback riding, yearbook and Girls on the Run. She plans to return next year....yaaaaa! So many of her friends dance at our new dance place that she kinda missed it this year. So, next years pics will include her too!

These pictures are a combination of dress rehearsal and the actual recital night. I found it so ironic that they got to dress as Minnie Mouse...I am soooo taking these costumes to Disney!!!

So here they are getting dressed and lining up and on stage...sorry my camera is terrible in the dark at far distances....we really need a nice camera...but oh well...here is what I have.....

Finally dressed and ready for our first dance!

Of course, they loved the make-up and curls. Note to moms who need their daughter's pin-straight hair curly = Soak sections of dry hair with hairspray and roll up in foamy roller. Leave up for several hours and unroll 10 minutes before going on stage! It worked!!!!

Lining up before going back-stage...don't you love all of the dots!!!!

There they are right in the middle, tapping their hearts out!!

Yes I was really there! Sorry I look a wreck...

We had about 20 minutes before their next number, so we changed into....

See their paws, puppy ears and cute bustle??? They loved these costumes!!!

Walking to line-up....see their tails???? Awwwwww

Such hams.....

All of the girls and my bestest friend from high school (and now!)....she is a blog reader too!!! Wave HI!!!

We went out for a yummy pizza dinner after dress rehearsal was over:

The night of the actual recital, daddy and Sarah surprised the girls with bouquets of flowers which are still beautifully brightening up my kitchen table!!!

Parting shot....

Look you survived the whole thing....good job!

Well, they had a great time and talk about it everyday! The costumes have been added to their enlargening "dress up" collection. I really like that they take dance classes...it helps with coordination and rhythm and fitness and being in a class-like setting...but they would say they take dance......"'cause its fun!!" I would like to thank the wonderful, patient, inspiring and tireless ladies that teach at their dance school!!!! Awesome job everyone!!!
